Bills would expand gay-lesbian rights

All three of these bills have passed the Assembly and are pending in the Senate:
Assembly Bill 205 by Assemblywoman Jackie Goldberg, D-Los Angeles: Significantly expands the rights of registered domestic partners.
AB 17 by Assemblywoman Christine Kehoe, D-San Diego: Prevents state agencies from doing business with firms that offer different benefits for married employees and those with registered partners.
AB 196 by Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco: Prohibits sex discrimination in housing and employment based on gender and expression, including nontraditional appearance and behavior.
